Do you know the children’s song that goes like this?
“Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dream.”
Yesterday our daughter sent us a video of our 2 granddaughters (4 & 5) singing a silly variation of that.
“Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream.
If you see a croc-odile
Don’t forget to scream!”
And then they would scream and throw their hands into the air. And of course they would giggle.
It really is a joy to watch children growing up and enjoying life that way, and that’s exactly what God wants for us! He wants us to have life that’s FULL of joy and happiness, and He tells us that in the Bible.
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” nkjv
“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” nlt
Our current life is full of ups AND downs, but that wasn’t God’s original plan, nor is it His plan for our future.
Jeremiah 29:11. nlt
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
There is no future and there is no hope if there is no life, but God wants to give us a life with a future and hope, and a life that’s full of joy. It all comes back to whether or not we have life.
John 3:16 nlt
“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
God doesn’t want us to “perish”, but He WANTS us to have “eternal life”! He wants us to have a life that is abundantly full of joy, hope and happiness. He wants us to live like that forever!
Can you imagine what it will be like knowing that you will NEVER die, NEVER again have pain or sorrow, NEVER again have disappointment or discouragement?
Revelation 21:4 nlt
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”
Why doesn’t He want these things for us? Why doesn’t He want us to have sorrow, pain and death? Just because:
HE LOVES US !!!
